Singing bowls are most commonly used to begin or end a meditation session or a yoga session, usually with one or three gentle hits of the stick onto the rim of the bowl. Sound is a powerful tool. It disrupts the pattern of what we are experiencing in a gentle, resonant way, bringing our attention to a soothing sound and immediately be brought back to the present moment.
Take your stick in one hand and place the bowl on the open palm of your other hand. It’s important not to hold the bowl, but rather just balance it on your open palm. Then very slowly start to move them outside of the stick in a circle around the outside of the widest part of the bowl. The key is to start slowly and to try and keep your arm still and let your wrist do all the work.
